What does kWh actually mean?

Battery capacity is measured in kilowatt-hours (kWh) — the electric “tank size.” The bigger it is, the more range you can get.

Think of kWh like litres in a fuel tank. A 60 kWh car holds more energy than a 40 kWh one, so it goes farther. Real range also depends on the car's weight, efficiency, speed and — crucially in the Gulf — the AC and heat.

How to identify your battery type

Four practical ways to work out your car's battery type — easiest to most definitive.

Read the trim name

“Standard Range” or “RWD” is usually LFP. “Long Range” or “Performance” is usually NMC/NCA.

Check the recommended charge limit

If the car recommends a 100% daily charge in the app or screen, it's likely LFP. A default of 80% points to NMC.

Know the maker

BYD and Denza = always LFP (Blade). Tesla, MG and Xiaomi vary by trim.

Check the window sticker or spec sheet

Some makers list the chemistry or cell type on the official spec sheet or window sticker.

Make your battery last in Gulf heat

Simple habits that keep a pack healthy for years longer — tuned for our climate.

The 20–80% sweet spot

For NMC/NCA, keep daily charge between 20–80%. LFP is happy at 100% daily.

Heat is enemy number one

In the Gulf, park in shade and use preconditioning. Sustained heat ages a pack faster than anything else.

Don't leave it full in the sun

Avoid leaving the pack at 100% for days in heat. Charge just before a trip, not a day ahead.

Go easy on routine fast-charging

Fast-charging is great for trips, but daily reliance ages the pack. Slow home charging is best for routine.

Precondition before a fast charge

Trigger preconditioning or set the charger as a destination — a pack at ideal temp charges faster and safer.

Natural degradation is slow

Most packs keep 85–90% of capacity after 160,000 km and typically carry an 8-year warranty.
